Air India plane crash

Another possible reason why the landing gear was not retracted could be that IF there was engine failure, a complete loss of power would have resulted in the inability to raise the wheel and possibly move the flaps. When the wheels go down however, apparently it is based on gravity to bring them down.

There are some reports of the Ram Air Turbine (RAT) being released. If that is true then it might indicate power failure as the RAT is used to generate power to the hydraulics and cockpit control.
 
A pilot on the news was saying they might have pulled the flaps up instead of the landing gear by mistake.....if that's possible it shouldn't be.
 
Have they got the data recorders. There was an explosion.

That doesn't make a lot of sense, the flaps and gear leaver are not that close, when you look at photos. It would be like pulling the handbrake when you meant to change gear.

I would expect a gear up audible alert also.
 
Apparently the RAT is extremely noisey with others saying it sounds like a Cessna plane. If the RAT was deployed (it is located under the wing near to the fuselage) that could also have been the noise he heard before the crash.

Of course with all what was going on in the panic, I would doubt our brains could computer what the hell is going on in those final seconds. Information overload. Doesn’t look like an explosion from the videos but who knows.
