Hi, I am trying to repopulate broken hedges with air-layered plants from my existing stock. I have followed the process using online guides but none really state with any certainty how long the process should take.
I started on 24 Sep and after 5 weeks I have this...

Something is obviously happening with the white nodules but no obvious roots yet.

Can anybody help please?

i would say thats fungus of some sort rather than roots begining to form. I have layered lots of cotoneasters etc on the ground but not done it in the air.

Even normal layering in in good conditions in my experience there are small roots after maybe 2 months and have sucessfully seperated in 3 months.

And out of interest, Why the air layering?

I have been trying all options and have had some success with cuttings and normal layering but there are no more branches low enough to reach the ground now.
