Hi I have drained and topped up my heating system after a repair. I have an air separator in my boiler with a red cap like a tyre dust cap. Does this need to be left loose or tight? No water cones out of it.

Thanks

I think you maybe confusing this with the expansion vessel or even an automatic air vent usually located on top of the pump as these both have dust style caps. Post a pic to confirm.

Some later Biasi models had a red "cap" but this was NOT a screw on tyre type but a click up/click down.

Yet another example of why if the OP told us what boiler model he has it would have saved all of us time and trouble.

999, if you are referring to an auto air vent, then leave the dust cap loose.
Tightening it will prevent it working correctly.
