I'm putting a couple of new PIRs on our system.

At the control box end, the existing wiring has the standard 6-core cables, but it looks as though there's three pairs which have been 'twisted' together.

I want to follow this look through to the new cabling that I'm going to put in.

How do professional alarm installers 'twist' cables together? Do they put two cables into a battery drill and twist them that way, or is there a special tool available?

I realise it doesn't make any difference to the final outcome of the installation, but the way they've been twisted together makes it look really neat and a really professional job.

Battery drill with an allen key in the chuck. ;)

because it has a bend in it so helps twist the cable, just strip the ends a little, wind them together then hoop over the key & press the trigger.
