Join in Alarm Cable?

I`ve had to cut and reroute the 6 core cable to one of the PIR`s on my house alarm where it went through a dividing wall. This was necessary due to other work i was doing.
I can buy 6 core alarm cable but i`m asking is it ok to join the new cable to the original and if so is there any way of doing this other than twisting the ends together of the very narrow cable and using insulation tape?

you can get connection boxes for alarm cable

If you can just run a new cable back to the panel if not then a junction box will be fine just make sure it's accessible.
