alarm with style

Hi All
This is my first post but have looked around for a while. loads of interesting reading and so far I have not needed to ask anything as I have always found what I needed, so thanks.... but

Can anyone point me in the direction of a wired alarm that has a flush mounted LCD type keypad. I'd. (read the wife) would like a more stylish option for the keypad. I'm sure that something in a brushed stainless package would do the trick given the light swithes which are on our shopping list.
We are having alot of work done on our home and it would be a good opportunity to fit a better alarm. I'd also like to use a keyfob too, so a small and discreet keyfob would be a bonus too.

put the panel out of sight in the cupboard under the stairs or somewhere, then it won't matter what it looks like. The prettiness of an alarm is its least important feature.

It is always preferable to have alarm components and wiring out of sight to make interference less easy.

From reading previous posts, what I have understood is that you have to choose the same keypad/LCD as panel. Is this correct or can you mix and match as you can with PIR and detectors etc ???

Also is it the same for key fobs i.e they all have to come from the smae brand. Panel/keyfob/keypad

Hardware from same manufacturer.
I would recommend doing the same with 'tokens' unles you know exactly what you are doiung. By asking the question it suggests not, so stick to the one brand.

Yes, fobs/cards.
For the amount you need it really ain't worth the effort. Stick to the branded.

since the previous replies its given me more to look at/and more understanding. I had imagined a key fob, like the thing that opens my car door. But have been looking at the tokens from Texecom and these would work well i guess. Certainly more discreet than my idea of a key fob.
To continue with the car analogy they look like the first type of car immobilisers.

The reason I like the look of these are Im a firm believer that making the alarm easier to set will mean that its not just me who sets it in the house/ and thus i'll have less ranting and shouting in my life, trying to convince other family members that this is "important"

Token as in proximity fob or card.
