ALL basic setting for VRC470

I doubt it is as simple as this but could someone please tell me what to set ALL the installer settings as on a VRC470
New boiler and heating has been in about 3 years and I just can't get the heating right and I'm getting really annoyed!!!! I am constantly up and down to turn the room stat up or down.
First of all I couldn't get the house warm (18) quick enough, now the heating doesn't seem to cut off quick enough and we over heat while it decides to turn off!!! (sorry about the !!!!! but im so fed up). I can't get the house be just tick over nice and warm. The rads come on on on then they go cold, then on on on!
1950's house, insulation not great, slowly Wallrocking walls as we decorate. Please someone help me, before I take a hammer to the thing lol!
The reason I am ask for ALL the setting is looking at it tonight, some other don't look right now so wondering if the knob has been turned by mistake while looking through.
Right currently cooking so off to turn the stat down lol.

The VRC 470 is a nightmare. Settings will depend upon whether it is a combi or system boiler. There is a degree or two of overshoot with this controller and turning it down when cooking won't elicit a quick response.

Vaillant have always made controllers that manage you, rather than the other way round; suggest you moan at the installer. My customers do, but I tell them what the VRCs are like upfront, when they ask for them.

Combi I think, boiler has 'onboard' hot water tank. Can I change the controller/stat for another on then, as I feel you have the nail on the head (but hubby keeps saying, 'well they are supposed to be the best, and economical') but it just annoys the hell out of me. For instance, I didn't go turn it down a while ago as I forgot, now the house it cooling down too much, and im getting cold!! And again like you say, I turn it down but it takes forever to 'listen' to me! simond what controller would you recommend on a ecotec plus937 please?? Are these Nest/Tado thermostats and alike any good? (Also I have added about that the rads are either hot hot hot or cooling down or cold, not warm maintaining background temp). Dont suppose you know if you have a weather compensation sensor fitted do you ?

Yes we do, I think it makes it worse lol

VRC470 needs weather sensor to work. Have you set the three temperature settings, and programmed them through the day?

If you want to rip it out, and its a 937, a simple prog stat like a Honeywell CM907 would be OK.

Alternatively, you could fit a Honeywell Evohome WiFi Base Unit. More about them on Google!
