Have a look at http://www.contour-showers.co.uk/products/cubicles/full-cubicle/

Most of their showers are intended for use by people with mobility problems. Many are wheelchair accessible. Some are made as direct replacements for baths.

Unfortunately, as soon as you mention 'disabled facilities', prices for everything seem to double.

It could be worth asking your local authority's occupational therapy team for their help, as they may be able to help with the costs (It costs them a lot less to provide an accessible shower than the ongoing costs of a carer to assist folks who don't have appropriate facilities)

have you considered a "wet room" or am i way off the mark?

Essentially a wet room is a waterproofed (tanked) room usually equipped with a walk in shower. The room itself becomes the shower enclosure, with a drain inset into a gently slopped floor in place of a conventional shower tray so theres no step.

You could easily get a wheelchair in there or simply a seat under the shower head.

Just got an advanced showers one in my garage ready to go into new ensuite in a couple of months time. They are a sturdy unit made of glass reinforced polymer....not sure whether access may be an issue though.
