Alpha 240 boiler problem

Morning!

Having problems with hot water on my Alpha 240 boiler. It worked on and off yesterday and then would not fire up at all last night. Same this morning. I put the heating on this morning for a while and now the hot water seems to fire up normally. I assume it will stop working at some point again.

Clearly there is a problem and an engineer needs to have a look at it. Does anyone have any thoughts as to what the problem could be/severity of it?

Probably diverter valve failed, can be repaired although could also be the switch.

You could look inside to see if the diverter valve pin is coming out briskly for about 10 mm
