learn from the previous poster's mistake.

To the others the day someone asks for a manual who does have an email address in their profile i'll give £5 to cancer research!

Wendi so sorry that after trying so hard to doa pretty tough job you didn't now how to restart a combi.

Hi, everyone, so we meet again here!

Thanks Paul. Email was in my profile but didn't realise had to turn it on. Have activated it for now so should there be a 240P manual out there...!?

On the other matter a bit embarassing but in haste to see if it worked after changing the valve we probably bgrd it. Anyway will get a pump and try again... perhaps with a manual!

Wendi

PS
reading all the postings I appear to have got it wrong and manuals are sale items... sorry!

And ...ooops, just read the "rules"!. I shouldn't be posting here anyway. Sorry again.

Strange email address doesn't show for me.

We regularly send people a pdf copy of manufacturers instrutions butmy joke above is about the fact they always ask for it but never put email address in profile first which if they had done they would have gt their much needed manual very quickly. We have to make light humour of it or we would get frustrated.

The problem is that restarting/filling a system is quite a lot of work and involves a degree of experience adapting to circumstances as they occur. I do it quietly listening to the system behaviour as I go about it and adjust what I do using previous experience. during this time ofquite intense conscentration the customer is usually rabbiting onthe dog is baring and the telly is blairing away and the apprentice is notpaying attention. But somehowwepull out of the hat a professional job and leave you with a system properly filled and woring no casualties.

It is miracle that the people who don't pay this attention to detail don't wreck more boilers. They will get come backs though.

With any combi start with gas turned off anumber oftimes stop andwait for artogurgle out ensure aav is open bleed pump cycle to hot water many times. Then allowboiler to light but if it sounds gurgly don't let it stay lit for long and certainly do not wait long enough to see how hotwater is or you will need a panel beater to reshape the combustion chamber cowling. In severe cases of boilers that won't purge their internal airlocks I pull off one leed from the modureg so it won't get too hot. Had an ariston eurocombi late on saturday after resouldering a pipe someone had drilled through that took ages to purge of air. Impatient customer eventually had confrimed to themselves this idiot plumber hadjust broken their boiler. It is nausiatingly common that customers thinanyone who lingers over theiboiler formore than a glance and can't give them a full correct diagnosis like a gp belongs on traders from hell which everyone knows by now is where all plumbers should be. That and on the costa brava spending theirillgotten gains.

I have to go out so if you do manage to fix the email thing it willbe someone else gets there first.

Hi,

I hope I've fixed my email showing now. It may be I was clicking "reset" preferences and not "submit", so if there is a manual for Alpha P240P out there it is much needed.

TO PAUl - thanks for the advice. I had a brainwave in bed and I got it wrong yesterday. The pump isn't ex, thank god, although it is very quiet - I listened to noises like you say in your email so clankings gone now and sound of aeroplane going over is getting less and far between, almost none now - and rads no longer heat, BUT NEVER EVER!

Will continue in other forum as still got probs with intermittant hot / tepid water although at least got hot water of sorts now to keep clean.

Thanks everso, Wendi
