Dear All,

I appear to have 2 problems, well 1 problem in that I am not getting any hot water, but I seem to have identified 2 causes.

The first I have found the solution to here, and that is a perished diaphragm, or something sticking in the Divert Valve.

The second problem, and the one I don't know the answer to is, that even with the boiler fired up the water is still only luke warm? (the Divert Valve opens when a tap is opened fully, so draws maximum pressure, and then the tap can be turned down)

I think the issue may be due to the fact that nothing is reducing the pressure, so even though it is trying to heat the water up, the water is simply going to fast. I get very hot water with a tap only just turned on, but it is tepid coming out of the shower

Any clues as to what should be reducing the pressure and why it is not working?

I hope this makes sense

Regards,

Gary.

It will all be down to d/valve,but if the d/v was gone it wouldnt be operating the m/switches,it seems like it will operate on and off,get new diaprahm and u shold be ok

If the diverter valve has started passing, then the heated water will be passing to the heating when you have a hot water demand stopping the hot water from heating correctly.

To test, turn heating off and allow the system to cool down. Run hot tap and see if the heating flow gets hot at the same time. It should remain cool.

Cheers, I have just tried this as I replaced the Diaphragm and it seemed to be fine but has gone back to being cold again.

It would appear the DV is passing, as the heating gets hot even when off and not the tap water.

what is the fix?

Cheers

Gary

In addition, are there any temporary measures to restore the hot water?

even if this means loosing the heating, I would rather have hot water

Cheers

Gary

You could turn off all the rads that way there would be no flow to them when you want the hot water.

try it and see...simple but effective

turned the outlet and inlet pipes for the CH off, and that seemed to work for the shower :)

Bit of a PITA to do that everytime seeing as it is winter, and need the heating, but it should do till I work out how to fix it properly :)

cheers

Gary

WATCH OUT!!! The flow isolation valves on boilers have a tendancy to start leaking like mad when tampered with!!!

You might just be better getting a new divertor valve and washer kit and then replace!
