Hi,

I have a year old Alpha 28 combi boiler. In the last couple of the days, I noticed that when you call for hot water (tap, shower..etc) it intermittently doesn't fire up the boiler. Other times its fine. Or hot water is being provided it suddenly goes cold. It seems more sluggish in the morning when hot water hasn't been called for all night. You have to repeatedly turn tap on and off and on again to get it to fire up.

The pressue is fine and the amber light is normal.

Heating is fine.

Any ideas or is this an expensive callout?

Thanks in advance

I am not quite sure which model you have, theres a 280 and I think a C28.

On the 280 it is probably a failed diverter valve, we would charge £106 inc.

I dont remember the C28 very well although we have one in our workshop. I think it has a flow switch and if so that might be about £98 if that were faulty. The NTCs can also become intermittent if so about £96.

Our charges are exactly that, others charge more or sometimes less. BG do a fixed price repair for £140 we are told.
