Alpha boiler problems

Hi all please be gentle with me, going to explain as best i can.

Had an alpha CD13R boiler installed. Worked fine until i put both the hot water and the heating on at the same time, then the bottom floor radiators all went cold while the top floor was tropical. So turned the heating off. But the orange burner light stays on and the top floor radiators still continue to heat even tho I have turned the heating off at the programme panel. The only way to get the heating off was to turn the main switch off, but still after doing that the bottom floor radiators never warmed up, only the top ones. Some guys came round to fix it, fiddled with radiators and stuff and got it working again, but now its done it again. Any ideas as I want to be prepared for next time as last time the engineers gave me a hard time.

You are taking as you are not really involved.

Did you employ these people to fit the boiler?

If so then you should expect it to be working properly and the answer is to call them back and when they come they should treat you with respect.

On the other hand if you are a tenant or something then you will have to pester the landlord or something.

Im a tenant. They dont believe there is anything wrong and said I didnt know how to use the boiler! Thanks for the reply.

Sounds like it is piped wrongly.
Either way it's not working so tell the landlord and don't pay any more rent
until it is working.

It's not the boiler that is the problem, it looks like an incorrectly wired system, which is making the boiler fire when is shouldn't. You are setting the programmer correctly but obviously the wrong signals are being sent.

As a tenant the problem should lie with the Landlord, and you should press the fact with them. I can appreciate how some landlords try to keep the problem for you to deal with, but you have done all you can, including the hard time. Not good - pester the landlord. Get angry!

Thanks very much for your replies. I was told to contact the engineers directly not the letting agent. I think im being a wuss and not wanting to phone!
