Hi,

We have had problems recently with our CB24. The main problem is that we can only get hot water when the central heating is on

Everytime we need to wash up or take a shower we have to put the heating on! :( Also this cuts out randomly so we have to reset it and the heat comes back.

Basically we had a plumber come round today and he said we need a new 'Diverter' valve. And this would cost £140+VAT and 2 hours to fix so will be around £325 total  Does anyone think that this new valve will 100% fix the problem we are having? Or could it be something else more simple?

This is a lot more than we expected to pay and we are thinking of buying a new boiler instead of fixing this one. The CB24 is >5 years old and had been working fine up until 3 weeks ago when the problem arose.

Any thoughts / comments will be greatly appreciated

I usually just replace the diaphragm inside the diverter on this boiler.

1 hour is plenty and part is around £20.

Get the job done but get a few more prices from different guys first.

Phone Alpha technical helpline and ask for their local to you service agent's number.

It might only be the microswitch, five minute job.

Don't ask that guy back.
