Alpha CB50 Boiler Mechanical remote

Hi i hope someone can help.

It seems my remote has stopped talking to the boiler. The boiler just stays on all the time even when i turn the switch to min and turn the min and max settings down to 5C. I have also done the obvious of putting in new batteries and the clock turns round fine.

I dont want to go out and buy a new remote when its the sensor thats the problem or something else?
