Alpha CD24C boiler pressure

Hi my parents have the Alpha CD24C boiler and for few days now its been dropping pressure so no hot water, they turn the tap under the boiler and that i assume lets more water in and brings up the pressure. today they say its at 3.5 PSI it should be between .5 and 1.5 PSI. they have been taking water out tho the pressure goes down the say 2 it then immediately goes back to 3.5 PSI. anyone know the reason this could be doing that?

Because they have not fully closed the filling loop

found that out and got a neighbour to sort cheers

The valve under the boiler they have opened to let water into the system
