Alternator light on a Vauxhall Astra K Reg

Hi Guys,

Hope somebody can help to confirm that I am diagnoising this problem correctly. On arriving home tonight, the alternator light on my astra stays on, even after the ignition is switched off, if i switch the ignition on, the light goes off. Sod's law because I have just had the MOT done on it. So I imagine in the morning, my car will be completly drained. I thinking maybe this could be caused by the diode but before I jump in and replace this was after some advice as to whether anything else could cause the fault.

I have come accross this before, it will drain your battery,change your alternater and it should do the trick. sorry for the late response,only just
read about your problem.

Agree with jonny - had same thing on an Orion - alternator most probably shot!
