I've a 2001 Vauxhall Astra 1.7 DTi LS 16V ECO4 with 145k on odo.
I get smoke while revving up through gears and engine management light on after a bit of drive on 2500+ rpm (85 mph plus). The light goes off after a restart (with a few minutes wait before re-start).
I had fault codes read before that pointed to glow plugs.
I replaced the glow plugs and even then the light is coming on high speeds. It seems that turbo is not kicking in (only after the light is on) whereas the car is still hitting good speed. I can feel the turbo coming on after re-starting the car in a few minutes and light vanishing away.
Also the car is still smoky and even more so when trying to accelerate hard in low gears (more than 2000 rpm)..
I was wondering to clean EGR valve. Is there a "how to" guide of cleaning EGR valves (where would I find it in my astra)?
Would MAP/ MAF sensors needs cleaning as well.. Is there a guide on where to find them and how to clean them please?
