My Fiat Scudo 2.0 Jtd (HDi engine) van has 110,000 miles and is a 2004 year. It's used mainly for short journeys and the engine seems to be good as new with no leaks and never uses a drop of oil between regular 3,000 or 4,000 mile changes.

For some years now I've been using mainly Mobil Super 2000 or occasionally Magnatec - always 10W40 grade. Slightly confusing is that some online oil checkers recommend 5W40, others 10W40. So I'm never 100 per cent sure what I should be using.

I have put up an image of the oil table in the handbook if that helps answer my questions. So, am I using the right grade for my usage, etc of the vehicle? The oils I've been using are semi-synthetic - should I stick with this type? Are the brands I'm using giving the engine the best engine protection - which is my overriding priority above all else?

Appreciate any advice from the experts.
