I've got what appear to be 2 rising water mains in my house, one in what is the kitchen, one in what was the bathroom (now the kitchen) my question is this, assuming equal pressure at both points is there anything to stop me using one as a cold only feed and putting the other direct to the boiler??

I'm assuming that these are linked at some point, they may not be in which case i will be getting full water pressure at the boiler, and turning on taps will not affect flow.

I'm going to buy a pressure gauge and see if the two supplies affect each other, but does anyone see any glaringly obvious problems with this idea?

Some boilers are designed to heat the water on demand and don't have a hot water tank at all, I imagine these would normally be fed from the cold water tank in the loft. I'm sure there are similar systems that are fed direct from the mains, which would match the setup you're describing.

More traditional systems have a closed loop going through the boiler, radiators and hot tank which is kept completely separate from the water that comes out the hot and cold taps. I don't think you would want to connect these up to the mains. Mainly because the boilers aren't designed to take cold water in and pump regulated hot water out - they don't have enough power or adequate controls to maintain the output temperature. Running tap water through the boiler might also cause other problems such as corrosion and limescale deposits.

Cheers for your response KnappGate, think my post was a little bit confusing.

I have a combi boiler which is mains fed, what i am asking is if i have 2 seperate, and equally pressured water mains entering the property, is there any problem with using 1 to all cold tap feeds, and using the other for the boiler, effectively keeping maximum water pressure at the boiler even when the toilet or cold taps are in use.

Can't see why there would be a problem but surprised that you have 2 water supplys to the property.

However there is one that raises right next to the original outdoor toilet and waste pipe and there is one in the kitchen, i am expecting them to be channeled together under the floor only way to find out is to check pressures and drops with taps running.
