It's coming up to a year since I had my vaillant 837 installed. What's the going rate for an annual service - was working out if it's worth doing the monthly direct debit thing via the flier that vaillant posted to us?

Most independants will charge you between £40-80 dependant on area. A service on your boiler is more of a safety inspection. Whoever does it should have and use a flue analyser, but tbh it would be a very straight forward job for someone familiar with your appliance.
