Hi, we added a carport to our house a few years ago. It has a brick wall and runs alongside our neighbours property. We put a gutter along it with the water going to our drain at the front and put a "gutter stop" sort of end thing at the end of the carport so that he has no problems with water. Now he has taken the stop off (he says it fell off) and says the whole gutter is blocked making his land wet!! He wants us to come and clean it regularly and stop the water going on his land. It is soaking into our wall at the point where he has removed the gutter end, and we couldnt work out why or where the water was coming from. What should I do?? Im sure he should be responsible for looking after guttering in his airspace?

What do you do? Find out if the gutter is overflowing or not and remedy it. It's your carport and your gutter.

Why? :?: :?: :?: It's your gutter. Far from being responsible for it, he could be complaining that you put it in his 'airspace' without asking.   (Did you?) Before this escalates into a border dispute, have you considered the possibility that the downpipe is blocked and the gutter really was overflowing onto his land? It's worth checking. :) :) :)
