Installed hive heating & hot water version not having a CH OFF wire confused me but following other posts just installed without and, all seems to be working as it should be.

I have another honeywell box in my airing cupboard see picture and was wondering the purpose of this box now I'm on hive? And if it can be removed and is it worth removing.

Cheers

That is for the previous thermostat and should be safely removed, be aware it is still live

Can the wires just be terminated or should they go somewhere else?
As the heating doesn't seem to work with this unit turned off

no you will have to make a link on the two switching wires and terminate the others safely
