We have a ground floor room in an 1875 mid-terrace with suspended floor (only about a foot of cavity then soil + shallow foundations). Timbers rotten, plaster severely damp-damaged.
We are replacing the timbers, drilling two new airbricks, ensuring drains/downpipes/guttering all clear.
Given that it's solid walls, should we lime plaster? I'm no expert but it looks as if the upper half of the wall is original lime and the lower half is some other mix.
The three plasterers we have spoken to so far want to do sand/cement mix. Are they wrong?
