Another Washing Machine Problem...

Hi am in urgent need of washing machine advice....

my machine has stopped working - it stopped halfway through the cycle and the water hasn't drained away. prievious to this happening (the wash load before) the spin was extremely noisy - banging like the contents was going to come out through the wall of the machine!! and all the items in the machine came out covered in fluff and dirt.

does this just sound like the pipe is blocked or could it be something more?
