Any one familier with old overheads?

Was doing work on an old farm on monday extending overhead lines from to the farmhouse. The wire used for the earth was solidcore copper with a paperwrap and then a bright orange powdery coating. I never thought about it at the time but is it possible it was aspestos?

The phase conductors were again copper but coated in a solid black plastic. The Installation must be 50 years old atleast.

More than likely to originally been a cotton weave.

Never come across any on overhead cables
