My Gran had one of those shallow stone sinks - no trap just a 3 inch stoneware pipe out through the wall to a gulley, One cold tap above it . Happy days that would've been 50 years ago.
They had a Belfast (or London) sink, did have hot and cold taps, but think there was an immersion, certainly no central heating! My Nan used Co-op 99 tea, (never tea bags), and just emptied the used leaves down the sink, hence the weekly need for Gramp to unblock it. 1 1/4 copper pipe IITC, he would undo the little rodding eye outside and poke his curtain wire up whilst Nan ran the tap.
