Apple of the day.

I always chop up home grown apples before eating owing to the likely hood of surprises.

I gave up on growing fruit. First few years, full of creatures, didn't want to eat anything.

One year, I bought some off-the-shelf insect killer spray from B&Q. Made my own long reach sprayer by strapping the nozzle to a pole. Exactly where the base of the pole was resting against my chest, inevitably getting a few dribbles down my pack-a-mac, I got a very rare form of cancer about a year later. Thankfully it was caught early but I lost a chunk of my chest after an operation by a plastic surgeon under full anaesthetic. I can't prove cause and effect but it seems unlikely to be coincidence.

I leave fruit growing to the experts now.
