Aqualisa Aquavalve 400 Mixer cap won't budge

Hi all

I have a slight problem, if anyone has any help/tips I'd be very grateful

Basically, I am trying to acces a shower mixer cartridge to replace it. First of all though the white plastic cap must be removed, but this willnot budge.

I have tried spray on descaler, which hasn't really helped. I am quite a strong man but still cannot get it to budge. Has anyone had this trouble before, and any way of removing it? I've even tried a rubber strap (annaconda) on it to grip it better, but still it stays on

they are a pig to get off at times try hot water over the knob useally removes them.
