I used Mapei primer G sucessfully on aquapanel. No leaks, nothing has fallen off and its been up for years now.

Thanks for the reply.

I asked Knauf and they said, so thinking of just tiling straight on?

'It is best practice to use the Knauf AQUAPANEL Board Primer, however this is not necessary.

We have not trialed and tested other primers on our system, however I can confirm you can tile direct on the Knauf AQUAPANEL indoor board using a C2-grade flexible tile adhesive.

Please note: All board joints need to be sealed before tiling, by either using the tape and joint method (Knauf AQUAPANEL Joint Filler - Grey embedding the Knauf AQUAPANEL Tape) or the gun applied curing adhesive (Knauf AQUAPANEL Joint Adhesive - PU). If you need further guidance on this, please feel free to contact me further.

You can use Everbuild Aquaseal Wet Room Kit Tanking Primer which can be bought online for as little as under £6 or under a tenner on eBay. I am a Buyer and you just need to compare the ingredients on the MSDS and they are identical to the Knauf Aquapanel Board Primer MSDS but more readily available and cheaper of course. I would use this primer as it waterproofs the wood flooring and should help longer term to prevent any moisture getting in and rotting the boards. If it did penetrate then it could cause an issue otherwise.
