On a lean-to extension, are bargeboards required along the verges (i.e. with or without a ladder protrusion and a soffit)?

Or is it just as acceptable to bed an undercloak onto the block wall overhanging by approx 50mm with bedded tiles and render upto the bottom of the undercloak?

Thank you for the reply :). In which situations would you fix a barge board (with or without a ladder rafter)?

It would be sensible to put a barge board were you were planning to render the wall to stop water getting behind the render.
