Hi i friend of mine said to me a couple days ago that the niceic are taking over building control from the councils. I wondered if anyone know about this?

im not sure , he was talking about all building control and not just electrical notifiable work which i have to say is a bit of a shock to me

A private company taking over every single public sector building control department? No bidding, no union complaints on the news, no MP's justifying the massive switch to the private sector pinching public sector work, nothing?

Is your friend on drugs?

ha ha no hes not on drugs but he did have a informal chat with someone from niceic whilst having a MCS audit who said that a big shake up was on the cards. i happen to have had the same reaction as you but just wondered if something was going on? apparently nappit are on the way out also?

There will be no major changes, just some tinkering with Part A, and the possibility of rationalising Parts M.N and K.
Also possibly some extension of self-certification, but LABC will remain (at least for now).
