Argh cant put anything on the wall

Can i just chime in here as the op and say what the **** is going on lol

What the hell has it got to do with you !!!!! Only joking. Himagin sets himself up on a pedastle and he just needs to be knocked off it, he thinks he's superior when in fact he's inferior that's all.:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Info I've posted is good for you're problem.
At the sad risk of messing up someone's thread, you, LMB, et al exploit the opportunity to take a pop at me.
Get a grip of yourselves.

Stand up and take a bow for messing up the thread.

Merely pointing out the nonsense.
What help did he get from you??? None, zero, f*ck all.
Get a grip of yourself. You've messed up a perfectly normal thread just because of your obsession with trying to belittle me.
It's failed miserably and blown up in your face, and you're still insisting on perpetuating the argument, instead of accepting that you've messed up.

Instead of trying to help the OP, you've messed up the thread, without any attempt at helping out.

Same applies to Brigadier.

My apologies to the OP. In due deference to the OP, I'm done on this thread.

....are you not saying you used a handdrill to drill through the plaster board? If a cable had been at the back you'd have gone in to it.

You are quite correct gasbanni. I am not saying that. What I did say was:

I broke the surface at each centre with a bradawl, then used a hand held drill bit to turn my way through.

I know you used a hand drill to drill through the plater board (turn ? You mean drill) !! I was saying that even a hand drill bit drilling through plaster board could so easily cut in to an electric cable due to the rotary action of the cutting edges of the drill bit.
Come on You can ignore or disregard what I'm saying ......I do this for a living. Do you think I could put holes in people's houses to see where I'm drilling or what I'm drilling in to ? Blasé drilling into plasterboard is asking for trouble. I've told you how to do it, what do I base this on .....experience!

It seems everytime i want to put something on the wall there is something behind the plasterboard such as pipes or electrical wiring. How can i tell whats behind?
and
If its plasterboard you don't drill it. What you do is carefully mark where your holes need to be, just mark one to begin with, using a flat bladed screwdriver and hammer tap the screwdriver in to the plaster board while slowly turning it. Your not hammering it in your tapping it. Using care it should go through the plaster board without damaging anything behind it. The size of the flat bladed screwdriver need to be a little less than the plasterboard fixing your going to use.You can waggle the screwdriver around if you need to enlarge the hole a little.
followed by
Mount the object with one screw, mark another hole position using a level remove the item and carry on as already described. Easy
But JamesAsus, (who hasn't said its dot and dab) and who everytime seems to find:

something behind the plaster such as pipes or electrical wiringboard
Using the above method of mounting the object with one screw, what happens if James, having done this, and goes to do the second hole, finds that there is indeed a pipe or electrical cable behind that point in the plasterboard and a fixing is not possible? What is plan B? I didnt need a plan B because having cut the piece of plasterboard out, I already knew what was behind and mounted the mirror.

Sorry for the lack of clarity. I break the surface with a bradawl and use, not a hand drill, nor a screwdriver, but simply a bit. And I meant 'turn, (with my hand and an occasional tap), and not 'drill'.

I was talking about what I did in my house!

Gasbanni, I have had very, very, great experience of 'experienced' tradesmen and since I've said what I want to say on this thread, I'll leave JamesAsus to compete his task if he hasn't already done so. I will now open a new thread, outlining some of my experiences of 'experienced tradesmen'.
