where can i get a meter for the above combi it is known as a TOTAL CHECK SYSTEM it plugs into the pcb(s) ariston inform me that all spares for this model are obsolete!!!there must be a meter out there somewhere

Why do you need a pcb interface? These are quite a basic (although nasty) boiler, MIs are also pretty good on these.

thanks for replying so promptly davebgas it would useful for the simplicity of just plugging into the pcb(s) to check a few minor faults that keep appearing i.e. no soft ignition sometimes when running some time, cycling every 12-15 sec, cleaner flame with combustion cover off!! it is 9yrs old LPG there is no heating engineers in this area and the so called plumbers? do NOT understand combis!!!

Regardless of the availability of engineers, you should still not be doing combustion related work on your boiler.

There are quite a few UK engineers who have retired/moved to Spain. have you searched the ex-pat community?

There are only a very small numbers of current boilers which have the capability of computer connection.

Whilst a plug may be on your boiler I have never heard of any interface being available for any boiler as old as yours.

Dont expect to find one. Any competent engineer should be able to service your boiler.

Flights to Spain are often quite cheap and if you can collect from airport and accommodate then a UK engineer is always a possibility.

well Agile you only know the spain you see on the tv!! this is still the backwoods REGS don;t even get into the equation we don;t even have the insulated pipe for the flue here! this is not the COSTAS!!! i live in the mountains where the local plumber? is also a farmer, electrician and telecoms(his comment)a small weep or a slight lpg leak is not a PROBLEM
I DONT HAVE MONEY to even consider getting some one over from the uk as for the ex-pats they are not tradesmen i do their work!!!(i am only a qualified electrician with a multi skill ticket from heavy industry in the uk)

doesn;t any body know about this meter you can get spares for vintage cars but it seems a 8 yr old combi has hardly any back up.also (agile ) in the installation manual the meter is on show for all to see and on the PCB the facility to plug the meter in (so this combi cannot be one you have worked on very often)

Aguanoncaliente,

I fix your boilers and many others and I have never needed to use any computer interface.

Although a few boilers did have sockets the only ones actually easily available are Halstead and some Vaillant.

I tell you again it is NOT necessary for any competent engineer. You seem to imagine you can plug it in and it will tell you the boiler fault.

Tony

thanks for replying so quickly no doubt you are as competent as i am in my trade (in the servicing instructions on page 25 it shows the METER and it states FAULT FINDING with the utilisation of the Total Check System it has signalling functions 1-6 and Malfunctions A-M) (A states faulty vent system and so on) if nobody can find a meter i think its time to scrap the boiler any reccomendations would be helpful (this appliance runs on LPG on two 13kg bottles )

well i was hoping for another prompt reply but it now seems to have gone very quiet cant anybody on this forum even advise me which new combi to buy? it will need to be a lpg model

Not all boiler manufacturers have been able to get their boilers to work on LPG.

The Vaillant boilers are apparently able to work on LPG and are well thought of.

Of course you have to get a boiler which is actually supplied specifically for your country because we are told that its "illegal" to inport a Biasi for example. I know that their M96 models can be converted but they are not supplied in the UK set up for LPG.

Tony

PS I repaired one of your boiler type last week but I managed without any meter! In fact I have NEVER had any plug in interface for a boiler.

thanks for the advice concerning a new combi i have some friends driving over in may i will get them to pick up a vaiilant . yes i would expect you to repair most boilers as it is your profession (please note i am not a house basher )
