Hi.

Im having my very old boiler replaced for a 30kw Combi and have recieved quotes to do the job. Thing is the 2 best quotes are for either a Ariston Aco 30kw and the other a Potterton Gold C33 HE.

What would everyone recommend? Price is not the issue, quality is!

Many Thanks is advance.

if price is not the issue, what makes you say that the ariston and the potterton are the two best quotes?

If price is not the problem then ask the installers for a price to install a Vaillant or Worcester boiler as these are generally considered to be better boilers than either Ariston or Potterton.

However, both of the boilers you have mentioned are capable of good service as long as they are installed on a clean system. Power flushing and using the best chemicals are essential for satisfactory operation of any make of boiler.

Can't speak for the others, but the Gold comes with 3 years parts and labour

Thanks I will.

How essential is it for a power flush? I do have a very old system with a mix of old & new rads, but was told its not that essential?

Only cowboys will say that power flushing is not essential without seeing the condition of the water.

All I would say is that if anyone says that then you should ask if they will give you a written unconditional guarantee against any problems arising from dirt in the system!

Power flushing is a major part of the installation process and the price should reflect it.

Its not always necesary but in most cases is!!!
