Hi, first post, and need a bit of advice.
The unit was installed 3 years ago, piped in, but never run up.
(Long story, owner died and empty house etc)
Tried to get it running today, it fired up first time and then cut out.
Water pump case was very hot and found to be seized. Freed the pump so now it works, but the boiler will not fire up.
Tried the suggested method of re-ignition etc, but still no spark/heat.
My question is, is there some kind of cut out switch at play here ?
Is there a secret bleed valve/air in the system valve as suggested by the kitchen fitter.
Any suggestions for this type of unit ?
Thanks in advance. Simon.

Only boiler I know of this name would be the Eurocombi SX20 MFFICE..these have a grey coloured controls panel but must be over 10 years old now.

If it has never been run it would need commissioning. Therfore it requires a registered installer to check out the installation etc. All sounds iffy to me though and many won't want to touch the job.

Apfa, your posting leaves more questions unanswered that it gives information!

I am left wondering why you are touching the boiler? Are you a gas engineer? Have you bought the house? Has someone called you to fix it?
Was it really installed three years ago when it was already 10 years old?

So many questions, so few answers!

Hope i've entered the correct reply box.....

Thanks for replying guys, no I'm not a gas fitter, hence my ignorance. The house was my fathers, but he died 2 years ago. My mum was in no mood to attend to his affairs, hence the delay.
The boiler was new
( mum told me so ! ) and installed no more than 3 years ago ( Not 10) by his plumber, who has since died too ! ( no comeback !)
The next plumber to look at it said be back in a week or two, he also died !! All guys over 60.......with no records or history of the job.

My uncle, a competent, experienced plumber who has fitted numerous boilers and c/h systems took a look for me, ( but does defer to specialist gas fitters at times !)
He is the one who looked at the system, not me. I know forums exist, I'm merely asking for help. The warranty has ran out, and like all of us, trying to save a few bob, but more importantly time !
He's a time served 63 year old guy, asking for a few pointers that will just save time.
Any help appreciated, thanks. Si

It seems to be somewhat jinxed if everyone who becomes involved dies shortly afterwards!

Any competent boiler engineer will find a simple boiler like that easy to fix.

However its difficult to say anything over the internet apart from checking the flow switch. But if the uncle has not done that already then perhaps its time to call an experienced person in.

MAke sure the pressure's about 1
Make sure the auto air vent behind the pump on the left, has its cap loose
There's a reset button under the boiler which starts life with a cap over it:
