I think Bill Gates is the largest farm owner in the USA, he is very keen on GM crops and chemical herbicides, though I don't know whether being keen on them means he is using them. I think his farms are crop based.

he doesnt have farms, he has farmland, the tenant farmers have the farms.

tenant farmers dont need farms as such, they just need fields and suitable farm buildings, not a self contained farm
