Asbestos and dangerous?

Hey,

This is on my mother in law's floor. She believes it to be asbestos. Is it dangerous in its current state. Often wet clothes are put on and it can be stepped upon.

1) Yes it's probably Marley tiles which can contain some asbestos. The adhesive may also contain asbestos fibres

2) It presents minimal risk to health - even if the tiles break then there is very little chance of free asbestos fibres being released into free air as they are bound in the product 'matrix'

There is greater hazard from tripping or slipping on them.

if you are worried, get it tested. Do you know how old these are?
