I am planning on putting loose slate mulch on top of some againg concrete in the garden/patio but want to stop it from sliding off the 'desired' areas.

I am planning on putting a thin (about 2cm....I will experiment) wooden ridge around the area in question. (slightly raised up by plastic spacers to keep wood off ground and allow water to drain)

However how do I attach wood to a concrete floor?

a) Liquid no-nails..... unlikely to take as damp and mossy

b) drill into it and use srews and rawl plugs

c) use some sort of specialised concrete /screw/bolt etc.

I have no expereince of drilling into concrete but assume I would need to use a good hammer drill (not my 18v cordless hammer drill) with a good masonry bit.

Will screws and rawl plugs be sufficient? I am not expecting the joint to have to be very strong. What should I look for in the screws to avoid corrosion?

If you recommend specialised concrete screws/botls where do i get them from and how do I fit them? Are there any small ones rather than big one used for the likes of fitting fences/decking as that woudl obviously be overkill.

Thanks for your thoughts.

plugging and screwing will be perfectly fine. a good hammer drill or an sds will be better to go through the concrete

As thermo says screws and rawl plugs will be fine.
You will need galvanised screws (preferable) or zinc plated ones to keep them from rusting away.

1 1/2" or 2" galvanised Number 8s or 10s should do the job nicely if I have estimated your materials height correctly (2.5-3cm) and the fact that they are not under much stress
