Had the same problem in my vw polo. It turned out to be leaves that were causing a blockage. The water then entered into the car. All of the carpets and floor was soaking wet. Had to take up the carpets and remove the rubber bungs on the floor to drain the water. Then left the car open to dry for several weeks in the garage. VW wanted £800 to repair. It cost me less than £50. Check that there are no blockages in the vents beneath the wiper. Hope that helps

As above, look right in the corners and unblock the drainholes, should be one on each side.
God knows how it cost £50 to sort it, 5 minutes job to do yourself.

It cost me £50 quid cause I didn't know what to do as all the carpets in my car had also been soaking wet so took my car to the local mechanic. However no I know what to do in the future.

had a similar issue with my previous car, an audi A4. although my problem was wet carpet in the rear passenger footwell.

My mechanic thought that it was the floorplan drain plug being bunged up, which is a common occurance but when he put the car on the lift and pulled the plug, no water, or little to speak of.

Over to Audi to find the fault, which took a week and it turned out to be a very smaller area of the windscreen rubber (0.5 cm sq) was fault and letting water run down the window pillar, behind the dash to the lowest point on the car, which happened to be the rear passenger footwell!

no water is coming in footwells as yet, but full of water in wells mentioned.
will try and find drain holes which may be blocked with dirt/leaves etc
Thanks all

remember the same fault, battery tray on the ford escort? anyone remember the remedy?

The drain holes on these are a right turd to find as 1 is under the battery tray and the other is under the servo and they are both hard to get to. You will find that you will have to remove the battery then have a poke around. I wouldn't leave it to long as if the water gets to the vacuum pipe on the servo the engine will suck the water into the engine then you will have to change the servo and engine oil. Expensive!!!!!!

Yes i had a quick look in the area you mentioned, it seems very tedious , may be its a job for AUDI dealers, to many equipmnet to disturb.

You could siphon it out as a short term fix, but i wouldn't got to the dealers as they will rip you off. Find yourself a good garage, ask a few friends they might advise you on one.
