Audi A4 (B5) driver information system fault

Hi all,

my 1998 Audi A4 has a fault with the DIS. The display sometimes has the common missing pixels fault but most often recently doesn't come on at all. I've bought a new LCD panel but the last time I used the car the display worked almost perfectly for the first time in ages.

Is there a related component or IC on the dash circuit board which I need to change when I fit the LCD panel? Could an intermittent fault in a failing LCD cause those symptoms?

Personally I think you are entering a bit of a minefield with this one.....unfortunately Audi dashboards / DIS failures are not unknown.
It could be a good move to contact either BBA-Reman or ecutesting.com to see what they recommend.

Thanks, I'll try them but they'll probably ask for the cluster to be sent in for testing...and then the slippery slope to a £200-ish repair.
