This is a friends car.

The key used to unlock all the doors.

For quite a while it only mechanically unlocks the drivers door and you have to start the engine which then unlocks the doors.

If engine not started within about 10 secs the alarm sounds.

Is this a common problem?

Anyone know the cause?

"""Have you tried pressing the button on the front edge of the drivers side B pillar - it's something to do with bypassing theinteriror sensor for the alarm, but on mine it also cuts off the remote central locking """

So where is the front edge of the driver's B pillar?

No water in pass footwell as far as I know!

Daft as it seems, try disconnecting the battery for 10 mins & then re-connecting it.

However, most VAG cars, the 'only driver door unlocks' is a safety feature & you have to double press the key fob to open all the other doors.

Not sure about the alarm though - do you have access to VAG com to check for faults?

Where the drivers door locks onto, that's the B pillar, or the middle roof pillar. The front edge will be facing the front.
