That's not right. Only 500,000 firearms certificates including shotgun licenses. That's less than 1%.Around 1 in 3 Austrian's have firearms, something like 1 in 20 in the uk. I know a lot more than 20 people and none of them have weapons.
The controls we have are broadly effective. We have very little firearms related crime/violence while allowing them for sporting/practical purposes.I hope we never go down the route of opening up the legal routes to gun ownership, although if Reform get in anything's possible I suppose.
I see the gunman has taken the easy way out.
tbh I meant in terms of encouraging uptake and broadening criteria for ownership. The controls we have are broadly effective. We have very little firearms related crime/violence while allowing them for sporting/practical purposes.
There's room for improvement around mental health and firearms. The police don't seize firearms quickly enough and some owners are afraid the police will seize their firearms so may resist getting help more. It's not an easy topic.

I was going by thisAround 1 in 3 Austrian's have firearms, something like 1 in 20 in the uk. I know a lot more than 20 people and none of them have weapons.
I knew a few guys whose dads had kept their ww2 revolvers (or claimed they did)I know several people with fire arms
One is a bit of a collector
World War One and before army rifles
Also has an army snipers rifle with all the attachments
All in working order

Yes they banned hunting with bows in this country years ago, I have a few bows for target shooting and the one recurve bow is lethal having a draw weight of around 60 lbs. It's actually insane the "equipment" people have for "hunting" and it's not just America. I have colleagues in Eastern Europe who go hunting with compound bows.
