What should the setting be on the automatic bypass? Some of the radiators downstairs do not get hot at the bottom even though both valves are fully open. The bypass is set at 0.1 and goes to 0.5 bar, the setting seem very low and turning it up to 0.3 bar does seem to resolve the problem.

Follow clf's link. As a general rule I find the auto bypass setting usually ends up around 3-3.5.

Dave is right, around 3 as rule of thumb. It depends on the system though, what boiler do you have? Any trvs that are sticky maybe?
