I have an internal draw in my Goodhome tall cabinet and have fitted soft-close hinges to the door but the draw will not open now because the door when it is open protrudes into the open space by some 10mm (half the door thickness). Is there a soft-close hinge which pushes the door out so it at least lines up with the cabinet side allowing the draw to open. You can see I have made a draw front because I'm adding to an existing 15yr old B&Q kitchen and using some spare doors. The old cabinet door openings are the same when opening. I need some hinges which push the door back a bit. The new Goodhome range does allow for inside draws!

I ran into something very similar when mixing older B&Q units with the newer GoodHome stuff. The issue isn’t really the soft-close feature, it’s the hinge type and overlay.

What you’ve likely got fitted are standard full overlay hinges, which is why the door still sits slightly inside the cabinet opening when open. For internal drawers, you usually need either a wide-angle hinge (like 155°/165°) or a zero protrusion hinge. These are designed so the door swings completely clear of the cabinet opening, which should solve your drawer clearance issue.

Another option (if you can’t swap hinges easily) is to use a small spacer or adjust the mounting plate to bring the door slightly forward, but that’s a bit of a workaround and not always ideal.

If you’re sticking with soft-close, brands like Blum or Häfele do wide-angle soft-close hinges that work well in this situation. Worth double-checking your cabinet drilling pattern though, as older B&Q units don’t always line up perfectly with newer hardware.

Hope that helps I remember it being a bit of trial and error to get right!

Got it thanks, bought a pair today so problem over. We have a small kitchen so I build extra draws under each cabinet to get more space for little used things.
