i had a word with my local plumbers merchant today, they are not stopping making or suppling b rated boilers, so they will still be available for the foreseeable future,
so who's making this 'new law' rumour up then ? i

Tom this is not rumour mate its coming in,dont you read any plumbing magazines or gas engineer etc?

Its due to Building regulations and to do with meeting our targets for the reductions we have pledged

well mayby not 'law' but new enviroment figures and measures to decrease co's into the atmosphere come out next month, and someone on here said that b rated boilers will not be allowed after octember 2010.

Thats right you will not be allowed to install any band B stuff.oct is the date set for the changeover

'happy', no i don't read any plumbing mags, unless they have females with no cloths on, and that gas mag goes from the letter box to the bin, i don't even open the plastic wrapper, lifes too short, so the conflict is, the clever heads on here say they can't be fitted, my merchant says all boilers will be available,
is it a 'law' or a directive, and who's goin to imply it and police it ???

Tom you do what you like mate, you seem to be law upon yaself :)
Do you actually notify any of your installs there will be clear record obviously if you do.

Yep B rated boilers are to be phased out , its a building reg !

Rumour has it that a task force is to be set up to police it ?? those caught flouting the law will be made an example of !! secret squirrels are already on this forum looking for likely suspects , so Jackpike tread a careful path you may be under survellance !

Have you noticed any dodgy looking characters painting a fence outside your house ?? :)

Band B can still be fitted up untill april 2011 providing the order was in before 1st october this year.
And efficency is dropping to 88% for what is classed as a band A new way of calculating it.
So you can see the scenario yes mrs you had your order in before october isn`t that right .

Er, maybe if you did and took an interest in your industry you wouldn't be coming on here asking about major changes that have been in the wind for ages just before they come into effect. Just a thought. Now, back to Razzle with ya...

Installers wont be able to specify B rated boilers from October the 1st 2010 onwards.

However, installers can continue to fit band B boilers until April 2011, providing the order was taken before the 1st of October 2010.

Oil- fired combination boilers are an exception to the rule.

Its all due to the changes to Part L of the building regs changing.

So I imagine that most Boiler manufacturers will be ramping down production and merchants will be discounting them to get rid of them quickly. There could be a few bargains to be found.

Regards.

cant believe the number of quotes for band b boilers ive got booked in to the end of march 2011, play the system while there cheap as chips, landlords like a bargin give them a ring

It always amazes me just how uninformed some in our industry can be.

But reading that someone does not even read their GI magazine then that will explain something. Often that magazine has details of changes in legislation and boiler recalls all of which are very necessary to be aware of.

errrr if there are any grass's on here, remenber this, I KNOW WHERE YOU LIVE,
