Got a call from my grandad this morning reporting his heating was not working. I've been and had a look and found the following:
Turns out that yesterday there was a power cut and the clock was reset on the Honeywell control unit.
I reset the on/ off settings but the boiler didn't fire. Hit the reset button on the Honeywell control unit and still it doesn't fire.
Turned off the main power swith for a couple of minuites restarted the system but no joy.
The pilot light is on, the front gas fire works perfectly and when the hot water is switched to constant the boiler fires as normal but no central heating.
Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

Hi,

Is there a 3 way valve with actuator. If so, then when the programmer turns the heating on, it sends a signal to the valve actuator to open. When the actuator reaches open it has a microswitch which then sends mains to the boiler to fire it up. If it is fully pumped then the pump will be running to get the hot water, which it is.
