bad shower design

I remember those in Latin America.
In Mexico, it was reassuring that they were "electricity lite" i.e. 110V.
But they still had them further south where the supply as 220V. In one case, the earth wire was neatly wrapped around a nail bashed into the concrete wall.
The crucial safety precautions are:
(a) turn power on/off using a remote switch - I think there always was one - and don't touch anything while it is on.
(b) observe the distance that the water falls before breaking into droplets, and don't get above that point.
