Badly filled chased wall

Hi
So the electrician filled chased walls and it looked like a Frankenstein job…. We hoped that hand sanding and applying some filler (poly filla - bad!) we could proceed and paint over but as you can see it looks awful.

What can we do to fix it ? Use an electric sander and smooth ready mix plaster on top ??

Rubbing it down and refilling it again will be your only option, probably need doing a couple of times to get a decent finish.

Where is the cable in that chase going?

what would you use to rub it down/ fine or coarse paper? By hand ? How can I get a smooth finish ?

Course paper to knock that lot back, either by hand with a block or an electric sander will work.

If the cable in that chase feeds the socket in the second photo then I'm afraid your electrician hasn't installed it correctly.

Forgot to mention the second hole near the bifold doors is for outside lights.

Our electrician was a disaster tbh, he’s also done a poor job on sockets also (gaps, not lining up), no idea how to fix that!

What the hell is that?!?!?!
And he wants you to live with those on your worktop?!?!
No, Sir, they MUST line up perfectly and be spaced evenly.
He can be forgiven for the poor filling because he's not a decorator, but his skills are far from that of an electrician.

Looking at the state of that lot I'd question if he was any sort of tradesman.

If you want the sockets to line up then you'll need to adjust the back box positions which will likely mean cutting some of the plasterwork away moving the back box then filling in any gaps left by the new position, you shouldn't have to do this, any tradesman should of been able to get it right but unfortunately you are where you are and I'm not sure there'd be any point getting the electrician back now
