My kitchen plan has me installing a 450mm wide unit at the 'face of the chimney breast' each side of chimney breast is 350mm wide, therefore there wil only be 50mm of the unit either side ', wrapping around'.

I imagine the unit will be very weak.

Do I need to reinforce this with anything or just screw it into the adjacent cabinets?

Never seen a chimney breast just 350mm wide? You said each side of the chimney breast , how many are there?

I mean the front faces of either side.
Ie. Gas hob in middle with a 450mm base units 'wrapped around' each front face

The two narrow sections of chimney breast are 350mm wide

Oh it’s an open fireplace , not a chimney breast , again would just shorten the unit not wrap around.

Sory, should have said :)

Ah okay.

I'm trying to visualise either side in terms of how it will look next to the other cabinets.
Would I just screw into adjacent cabinets as normal?

The depth of chimney breast is 45cm, meaning that there will be approx 12cm depth, so you're syaing I cut the cupboard to 450mm wide and 120mm deep (cut from the back forwards)

Cheers.
